AHLA's Vibrant Volunteer Community

At AHLA, every volunteer helps shape our community and advance the field of health law. The Volunteer Resource Center is the starting point for members exploring how to get involved, considering a leadership role, or looking for current opportunities. Discover the Volunteer Pathways framework, learn about leadership at AHLA and the annual Call for Leaders process, and browse current opportunities in the Volunteer Town Square.

AHLA continues to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility by being open and transparent about how volunteers and leaders are appointed and by recognizing the many contributions of those who serve.

Volunteer Pathways

Volunteering with AHLA takes different shapes at different stages of a career. Recognizing that members’ availability and capacity shift over time, the Volunteer Pathways framework offers easy entry and exit points for participation, with opportunities, resources, and support tailored to members’ interests and goals.

Each of the four pathways – from new volunteer to strategic leader – comes with its own skills, roles, and learning resources. Explore the framework to find a pathway that fits today.

Volunteer Opportunities in the Town Square

AHLA offers volunteer opportunities for authors, speakers, mentors, judges, and community ambassadors – matched to members’ expertise, experience, and availability. The Volunteer Opportunities page is where to see what’s currently open and learn about the types of roles AHLA volunteers fill.

Anyone can browse opportunities; AHLA members log in to the Health Law Network to apply through the Volunteer Town Square. Have an idea for a session, article, or podcast? Submit a proposal from the same page.
