Young Professionals—Starting a New Role Remotely: Navigating the Ebbs and Flows

I am not going to deny that I was extremely nervous to start my new role as an associate remotely. The nervousness was amplified as I was choosing to start my new role (remotely) from a time zone 9.5 hours ahead of where my coworkers would be. How will I get to know my team? Will I feel like I am a part of the organization? Will I have a dumb question about the time entry software? What about occasions when I do not know something—how can I walk into someone’s office (of course my firm has an open-door policy) to ask that dumb question? So many questions waded through my mind on the day I was to start my new role. The day came, it was 7:30 pm, and once the day started it did not seem difficult at all, yet I had been apprehensive.
