The April 26 hearing of the Subcommittee on Oversight of the House Ways and Means Committee (Hearing) is the latest development in the re-examination of decades-old standards for federal tax-exempt status of not-for-profit hospitals. The Hearing particularly focused on the community benefits provided by not-for-profit hospitals and how those benefits are reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the greater public.
