U.S. Court in DC Says CMS Improperly Dropped Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage Star Rating

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) failed to calculate SCAN Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage (MA) star rating in accordance with the agency’s regulations, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia held in granting summary judgment to the California-based nonprofit in a lawsuit challenging its one star drop from 4.5 to 3.5 between 2023 and 2024.
