Providers and women are turning increasingly towards telemedicine abortion to give and receive essential health care. Telemedicine abortion, which involves the supervised ingestion of the abortion pill through a telehealth consultation, is a safe and effective way for providers to offer medication abortion services. Where patients have an option, many prefer medication abortion over surgical abortion as it is less costly, less invasive, and affords greater privacy.
