U.S. Court in New Jersey Rejects Out-of-Network Hospitals’ ERISA Action Against Cigna for Alleged $100 Million in Underpayments

A federal court in New Jersey dismissed with prejudice September 12 several hospitals’ action under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) alleging Cigna Health and Life Insurance Co. underpaid them $100 million on more than 4,700 claims for out-of-network services.
