Illinois Appeals Court Finds On-Call Doctor's Telephone Consult Triggered Duty of Care

An on-call doctor’s telephone consultation with an emergency department (ED) physician about a patient’s medical condition and possible admission to the hospital was enough to create a physician-patient relationship that gave rise to a duty of care, an Illinois appeals court held January 26 in a medical negligence action.
