The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected individuals’ health in more ways than one. Mental health is a topic that comes up frequently in conjunction with lockdowns and other restrictions on social activities, but another health-related topic that is rarely discussed is the pandemic’s effect on individuals with eating disorders. I had the opportunity to interview two pediatricians from the University of Rochester Medical Center who specialize in eating disorders. Taylor Starr, DO, MPH is an assistant professor of pediatrics and medical director of the Eating Disorder Program at Golisano Children’s Hospital, a University of Rochester hospital. Nicole Cifra, MD, MPH is an Adolescent Medicine Fellow at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
