After a couple of key court rulings in June of this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a memo indicating it would reverse a recent change to its Star Ratings program that had resulted in major shifts in the industry due to significant updates to specific Star Ratings for dozens of health plans that operate in the Medicare Advantage (MA) program. This article discusses the MA Star Ratings program, why it is important to the industry, the new related issues and court cases, and the effect the rulings in these cases have on the industry.
