AHLA Announces Diversity and Inclusion Initiative for its Dispute Resolution Service
- March, 25, 2021
AHLA announces a diversity and inclusion initiative for its Dispute Resolution Service that aims to increase the diversity of its roster of arbitrators, mediators, and hearing officers. This initiative represents AHLA’s commitment to the advancement and promotion of diverse and inclusive participation within the Association regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, or disability.
As outlined in the initiative, AHLA will collect data on diversity and inclusion from neutral profiles on the Dispute Resolution Service’s case management system. Members of the Association and the greater health law community will benefit from a strong and diverse roster of neutrals to draw from when disputes arise within the health care system.
“The ultimate goal is to increase the number of neutrals from underrepresented minorities who are appointed,” comments Geoff Drucker, Senior Director of Dispute Resolution Service, “So, in addition to broadening our recruitment efforts, we are also encouraging health lawyers to take a closer look at candidates and keep diversity in mind when making their selections.”
AHLA continues its campaign for members to update their demographic profile, allowing AHLA to collect more data to benchmark its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives while advancing this new initiative for its Dispute Resolution Service.
