AHLA Announces Demetrios L. Kouzoukas as Keynote Speaker for Health Plan Law and Compliance Institute
- September, 04, 2019
The Opening General Session of the Health Plan Law and Compliance Institute on November 14, 2019 will feature keynote speaker Demetrios L. Kouzoukas, Principal Deputy Administrator for the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Director of the Center for Medicare, delivering a talk on “Empowering Patients to Drive Value in Medicare.”
Many delivery system reform efforts to date have sought to transfer risk to entities with better incentives for managing costs and delivering value to patients. The most successful efforts, however, have also been based on better empowering consumers—letting them determine what constitutes value. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is working in countless ways to allow and facilitate the free exchange of information between buyers and sellers among competing interests so that patients are in charge and beneficiaries and taxpayers get better outcomes from Medicare at a lower cost.
“Patient empowerment and greater access to information are keys to improving health care outcomes,” comments David S. Cade, Executive Vice President/Chief Executive Officer of AHLA. “We’re excited to have Principal Deputy Administrator Kouzoukas join our conference faculty to share how CMS plans to put this into action; what information will be shared with patients and from the agency’s viewpoint, how sharing that information will improve quality, access, and affordability.”
Complimentary press registration is available for the Institute – see full schedule.
