AHLA Announces Thomas N. Shorter as the Next President-Elect Designate

The Board of Directors of the American Health Law Association (AHLA) announced today that Thomas N. Shorter has been selected as the next President-Elect Designate.

As President-Elect Designate, Mr. Shorter will play a key role in guiding the Association’s strategic planning efforts leading up to his term as President, which will begin July 1, 2022. Mr. Shorter has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group from 2007-2013, joined AHLA’s Board of Directors in 2014, served on the Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee from 2014-2015, Co-Chaired the Diversity+Inclusion Council from 2018-2019, and most recently served as the Chair of the Practice Groups and Special Councils Board Committee. Mr. Shorter has also spoken frequently at in-person programs, contributed to AHLA’s publications, and has served in other pertinent leadership roles both at AHLA and with other health law/health care organizations.

Mr. Shorter received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to receive his J.D. at Northeastern University School of Law (Phi Delta Phi). He is a Past Chapter President and now Regent with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a Fellow with both ACHE as well as the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Shorter is a Partner at Husch Blackwell in Madison, Wisconsin, and has been involved in the diversity and inclusion efforts of both his firm and as part of the ACHE Wisconsin Chapter, championing diversity scholarship and award programs.
