AHLA Announces Jenna Misiti as the 2025 Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award Recipient

  • January, 27, 2025

The American Health Law Association (AHLA) is pleased to announce Jenna Misiti as the recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to health law and policy education at Marshall University.

The Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award celebrates adjunct faculty members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to expanding students' knowledge of the health care industry and health law while showing significant commitment to student counseling and mentoring.

As an adjunct professor at Marshall University since 2018, Misiti has taught "Legal Issues in Healthcare Management" in the Graduate Program in Health Care Administration and doctoral-level health law courses in the Nurse Anesthesia Practice and Management Program. Her teaching draws from her rich background as both an attorney and health care compliance professional, particularly her experience serving rural and underserved areas of Appalachia.

Misiti's legal career includes seven years as in-house counsel for West Virginia's largest community health system, during which she earned her Master's in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph's University and became nationally certified in healthcare compliance. In 2019, she founded Appalachian Healthcare Legal Consulting, focusing on improving health care delivery in rural communities through her work with safety net providers.

A member of AHLA since 2012, Misiti participates in the Fraud and Abuse practice group and the Community for Adjunct Faculty. She currently serves as a Director on the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy and maintains an active practice serving health care entities across West Virginia and Kentucky.

The award will be presented during a virtual reception recognizing Recipients for the IDEA Champion and the Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Awards during Health Law Week, where Misiti will be recognized for her contributions to health law education and her commitment to mentoring future health care leaders.
