AHLA Announces New Association Leaders

The AHLA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election and appointment of an outstanding slate of new Association leaders.

"I have had the incredible honor and privilege to work with a large number of these newly appointed leaders for many years on Association projects and initiatives," said Mark S. Kopson, President-Elect of the American Health Law Association. "It was not an easy decision to make given the caliber of the candidates and the significant contributions they have made to the Association, and we thank all those who expressed interest in serving our community. On behalf of the AHLA Board of Directors, we are delighted to welcome our newest class of AHLA leaders and look forward to seeing the impact they will have on the Association and the health law profession."

These newly appointed leaders will assume office after the Annual Meeting in July 2025.

Board of Directors Elected to a First Term

Dionne C. Lomax, Affiliated Monitors, Inc., Brookline, MA
Dionne served as Chair of the Antitrust Practice Group from 2021-2023 and as a Vice Chair from 2016-2021. She has spoken at AHLA's in-person conferences and is a strong contributor to publications. Dionne is also a supporter of AHLA's educational mission. Dionne is Managing Director at Affiliated Monitors, Inc.

Kristen McDermott Woodrum, McGuireWoods, Atlanta, GA
Kristen served as the Co-Chair of the Advising Providers  Planning Committee this year. She served as Chair of the Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute Program Planning Committee from 2001-2024 and as a member from 2015-2021. She has also served as a Vice Chair of the Behavioral Health Task Force from 2013-2016. She speaks frequently at AHLA's in-person conferences and is a strong contributor to publications. She is also a supporter of AHLA's educational mission. Kristen is a partner at McGuireWoods.

Nominating Committee Members

Emily B. Grey, Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson L.L.P., Baton Rouge, LA
Emily has been on the Board since 2022. She is currently serving on the Governance Committee and as a member of the Annual Meeting program planning committee. She has previously served on the Practice Groups and Special Councils Committee, and as the Board liaison on the Dispute Resolution Service Council. Emily is a Partner at her firm.

Trent Stechschulte, I Am Boundless, Inc., Columbus, OH
Trent has served as the Vice Chair of the Regulation, Accreditation, and Payment (RAP) Practice Group from 2022-2025. He also served as chair of the RAP Affinity Group from 2021-2022 and as the Vice Chair from 2019-2022. Prior to these roles, Trent served as a member of the Diversity+Inclusion Council from 2017-2019. He is a frequent speaker at AHLA's in-person conferences. Trent serves as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at his organization where he facilitates and supports the implementation of the legal department. Additionally, Trent is currently an adjunct professor at Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, teaching health care compliance.
