AHLA Announces John E. Kelly as 2024 Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award Recipient

AHLA is pleased to announce John E. Kelly as the recipient of the 2024 Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to fraud and compliance education within AHLA's Fraud and Abuse Practice Group.
The Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award, established in tribute to the late Patricia T. Meador, honors her outstanding contributions and exemplary leadership to the national health law bar. It is given annually to a member who has shown exceptional dedication to mentoring and educating professionals in the field of health care fraud and compliance.

John E. Kelly, Partner and Healthcare Department and Healthcare Industry Practice Chair at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, has been a driving force in AHLA's fraud and compliance initiatives for over 15 years. As Chair of AHLA's Fraud and Compliance Forum Program Planning Committee since 2020 and former Co-Chair of the Fraud and Abuse Practice Group, Kelly has consistently demonstrated leadership in educating and mentoring health law professionals.
Kelly's contributions extend beyond his formal roles. He has actively encouraged participation in AHLA activities, mentored numerous attorneys and law students, and advocated for innovative approaches to fraud and compliance education. His efforts have included exploring new formats for educational events and focusing on practical takeaways to enhance the value of AHLA's offerings.
A former federal prosecutor with extensive experience in health care fraud cases, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge to his mentorship and educational initiatives. His commitment to sharing expertise and fostering the next generation of health law professionals embodies the spirit of the Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award.
The award will be presented to John E. Kelly at the upcoming Fraud and Compliance Forum in Baltimore, where he will be recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of health care law and his dedication to AHLA's mission of advancing health care through education, information, and dialogue.
