My journey into health law began with a unique blend of clinical experience and a passion for health care. I started my career as a chemistry major, later attending medical school, but my trajectory shifted when I discovered the emerging field of health law while conducting clinical research. I transitioned to law school after realizing that the realm of health law offered more opportunities for me to expand my knowledge and career prospects.

AHLA has been my professional home since my law school days, providing networking opportunities and valuable resources that spurred my career forward. As I moved from a local, Texas-based practice to a federal role at HHS (Health and Human Services), AHLA became my go-to resource for content, networking, and staying informed about health law developments. The association's archives, networking opportunities, and in-person meetings provided invaluable insights, helping me navigate health law challenges and learn from diverse perspectives.

Leveraging AHLA's numerous offerings, from newsletters to webinars, supported me in delivering better health outcomes for my clients. By tapping into the Association's talent and leadership pipeline, I became a regular speaker at the Medicare and Medicaid conference, authored numerous articles, and participated in AHLA’s virtual webinars. These opportunities, along with AHLA’s vast resources, encouraged me to get outside my comfort zone, interact with members holding differing perspectives, and inform my work for the better.
