On July 26, 2021, a bipartisan group of senators led by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced the False Claims Act Amendments Act of 2021.[1] According to a press release issued by Senator Grassley—who has long been considered the “father” of the modern-day False Claims Act (FCA)—the proposed legislation was designed to “beef up the government’s most potent tool to fight fraud.”[2] Senator Grassley was joined by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT), John Kennedy (R-LA), Dick Durbin (D-IL), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).
