D.C. Circuit Tosses Hospitals’ Challenge to Uncompensated Care Reimbursement

The Medicare statute precluded 45 hospitals from challenging the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary’s “estimate” of their uncompensated care costs for determining disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments, the D.C. Circuit ruled March 10.
