CMS Stepping up Scrutiny of Poorest Performing Nursing Homes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) unveiled October 21 an overhaul of its Special Focus Facility (SFF) Program for the nation’s poorest-performing nursing homes, including toughening requirements for completing the program and increasing penalties for facilities that fail to improve.
