CMS Projects 7.5% Growth in National Health Spending for 2023

National health spending grew 7.5% to nearly $4.8 trillion in 2023, outpacing overall economic growth of 6.1% last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of the Actuary said June 13. CMS attributed the faster clip of health spending to broad increases in the insured population (93.1%) following record-high Medicaid and direct-purchase plan enrollment gains.
