U.S. Court in Washington Holds Plan Administrator Improperly Denied Coverage of Wilderness Therapy

On January 23, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington held that a facility licensed by the Oregon Department of Human Services to provide services to youth with mental health problems was properly licensed to provide mental health treatments, and the plan administrator’s interpretation of plan provisions that resulted in the denial of those claims was erroneous.
