As part of an ongoing effort to address professional shortages and geographic health care disparities, federal legislation and regulations have incentivized provider partnerships that promote training in rural areas. This policy objective has been clear since the passage and implementation of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA, 2021), and continues through more recent legislation and rulemaking.
