Beginning January 1, 2023, Medicare certified home health agencies (HHAs) nationwide will participate in the new and improved Medicare Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP) reimbursement model. Building on the “original” HHVBP model introduced in nine states in 2016, the new model continues the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) paradigm shift towards reimbursement based on measuring quality instead of the volume of services delivered by providers.
