Discussion Topic - Navigating the Legal Landscapes of DEIA

The legal landscape of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) efforts is ever-changing.  This past year, we’ve seen over a dozen states and the Supreme Court take on DEI-related issues—actions which may have an impact on DEI initiatives in the workplace.  The DEIA and the Law session aim to discuss the ways to navigate these changes, while continuing to bolster DEIA initiatives.  By analyzing case studies and engaging in targeted discussions, participants will learn practical strategies to advance their DEIA initiatives while minimizing legal risk.  The session will also explore how to drive transformative change and advance a more inclusive and equitable future within corporate America.

  • Examine the challenges organizations face with advancing DEIA following the US Supreme Court’s decision on affirmative action in universities
  • Develop strategies to advance DEIA in a legally-sound and practical manner
  • Discuss strategies and best practices that organizations can adopt to continue to address the adverse effects of bias and microaggressions in the workplace.

Discussion TopicUtilizing DE&I to Advance Health Equity

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are appearing in more national benchmarking and accreditation criteria to advance health equity.  Leaders in hospitals and health systems often think of DE&I and health equity as separate areas, and are now trying to better understand how they relate to one another. Understanding how to articulate goals and develop tactics to strengthen team dynamics and improve patient care among different populations are imperative. By recognizing and addressing the unique needs of different demographic groups, teams can contribute to reducing health disparities and promoting equitable healthcare outcomes. Additionally, fostering an inclusive environment enhances employee satisfaction, retention, and compliance with legal and ethical imperatives for diversity in health care workplaces.

  • Learn the importance of having diverse perspectives in delivering patent-center care and how to work effectively in diverse teams
  • Learn strategies and tools for identifying and addressing health disparities in diverse patient populations which help make health care services more equitable
  • Grain practical insights into how to foster an inclusive work environment that promotes employee satisfaction, retention, and compliance with diversity-related legal and ethical considerations in health care settings
