AHLA is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Michael F. Anthony Health Law Scholarship. Aubrey Mys from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and Caila Wagar from the University at Buffalo School of Law have been selected as the 2024 scholarship winners.
The Michael F. Anthony Health Law Scholarship, named in honor of a distinguished figure in health law and a pivotal force in AHLA, supports promising law students committed to careers in health law. Recipients receive registration to AHLA's Fundamentals of Health Law conference and a stipend to offset attendance costs.
"We are thrilled to recognize Aubrey and Caila as our first Michael F. Anthony Scholarship recipients," said David S. Cade, Chief Executive Officer of AHLA. "Their academic excellence, dedication to health law, and commitment to overcoming challenges exemplify the spirit of this scholarship. We look forward to seeing their contributions to the field of health law in the years to come."
Aubrey Mys, a third-year law student at the University of Florida, has demonstrated exceptional leadership by founding the Health Law Association at her school and coaching the first Health Law Transactional Team. She has received numerous accolades, including the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Award for Outstanding Performance and The Health Law Section of The Florida Bar Law Student of the Year Award.
Caila Wagar, a JD/MPH candidate at the University at Buffalo School of Law and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, has excelled academically while balancing multiple responsibilities. Her achievements include being in the top 10% of her class, serving as a Publication Editor for the Buffalo Law Review, and receiving the Department of Environmental Health Outstanding Capstone Award for her MPH studies.
Both recipients have overcome significant personal and financial challenges in pursuit of their educational goals, embodying the resilience and dedication that the Michael F. Anthony Scholarship aims to support.
The scholarship winners will be honored at the upcoming Fundamentals of Health Law conference, where they will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and network with leaders in the field of health law.
AHLA remains committed to fostering the next generation of health law professionals through educational support and networking opportunities. The Association congratulates Aubrey Mys and Caila Wagar on their outstanding achievements and looks forward to their future contributions to the health law community.
