For Trish, AHLA remains more than just a professional community; it is a welcoming environment where she can pose challenging questions, find camaraderie, and engage with a diverse membership. The organization's commitment to fostering a collegial atmosphere ensures that Trish, and others like her, can actively contribute to and benefit from a rich exchange of ideas within the dynamic realm of health law.

My journey to AHLA membership started in 1998 at the Fundamentals of Health Law conference after having an energizing experience among members who valued my perspective as I took in all the sessions and educational content. I joined the Association soon afterwards and started volunteering in 2005. Volunteering with AHLA has afforded me profound professional and personal rewards. Over the years, I have seen AHLA grow from an organization that focused largely on health lawyers, to one that serves all professionals who engage with health care.

I appreciate AHLA's focus in maintaining a nationwide community focused on excellence by creating opportunities for health law professionals to collaborate and learn from one another in a safe and welcoming environment. AHLA has always been a place where health law professionals can learn about current developments in health law from interactions with attendees and from experts in the field who graciously offer their time to speak about these critical topics. AHLA will continue to be a welcoming community for those who want to ask difficult questions and find camaraderie among a diverse, collegial membership.

As the AHLA President for 2023-2024, I hope to successfully carry the torch of my predecessors, whose voices of innovation and growth have significantly impacted the health law community. Historically, AHLA’s mission and vision has been to provide authoritative educational content on relevant topics that impact the health law community. Health care is taking a transformative path, especially in genomics, medical devices, artificial intelligence, and clinical research. Professionals are hungry for additional information and insights on the laws and regulations affecting activities in these fields.

AHLA’s future is bright! I work with a terrific group of devoted professionals and leaders whose passion for the health law community will undoubtedly inspire new and exciting offerings and resources for members to take advantage of for years to come. I am also encouraged by the many young, active, and engaged younger generations who bring fresh ideas and perspectives in technology, telehealth, and artificial intelligence. Every AHLA member, young and old, contributes valuable insights that feed the flames of productivity and innovation. It is an honor to associate with so many outstanding individuals who provide a professional home for professionals to teach, learn, and inspire one another.
