Proposed Rule Addresses Medicare Accrediting Organization Conflicts

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published February 15 a proposed rule (89 Fed. Reg. 11916.) aimed at strengthening oversight of Medicare accrediting organizations (AOs) by addressing conflicts of interest; establishing consistent standards, processes, and definitions; and updating the validation and performance standards system.
