CISA, HHS Release Health Care Cybersecurity Toolkit
- October 27, 2023
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) unveiled October 25 a new cybersecurity toolkit tailored for the health care and public health sector.
The toolkit, which was released in advance of an HHS and CISA-hosted roundtable discussion on cybersecurity challenges in the health care industry, consolidates key resources for health care organizations to jumpstart and refine their defenses to stay ahead of current and emerging threats.
The agencies said the toolkit is part of the federal government’s broader efforts to work with the health care industry to close gaps in resources and cyber capabilities, particularly for smaller hospitals and health centers.
“We have seen a significant rise in the number and severity of cyber attacks against hospitals and health systems in the last few years. These attacks expose vulnerabilities in our healthcare system, degrade patient trust, and ultimately endanger patient safety. The more they happen, and the longer they last, the more expensive and dangerous they become,” said HHS Deputy Secretary Andrea Palm.
