U.S. Court in Illinois Critical of Parity Act in Dismissing Action over Residential Treatment Denial

A federal court in Illinois dismissed February 18 an action alleging Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois’ (BCBSIL’s) denial of coverage for a child’s stay at a mental health residential treatment facility violated the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, but also expressed frustration with the law’s limits.
