NYC Medical Center Reaches $4.75 Million Settlement with OCR over Patient Data Theft

New York City-based nonprofit Montefiore Medical Center will pay $4.75 million to resolve allegations that its data security practices potentially violated the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced February 6.
