No Surprises Act Payment Disputes Top 334,000 in First Year, CMS Reports

More than 334,000 billing disputes under the No Surprises Act (NSA) were initiated through the federal independent dispute resolution (IDR) portal in its first year of operations from April 15, 2022 through March 31, 2023, according to a recent Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) report.
