U.S. Court in DC Says Teaching Hospitals Not Entitled to Retroactive Reimbursement for Faulty DGME Calculation

Thirty-one teaching hospitals lost a bid to require the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reopen their settled cost reports to recalculate payments for direct graduate medical education (DGME) that were based on a regulatory formula that was inconsistent with the Medicare statute, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia held August 6.
