OIG Flags $35.1 Million in Improper Medicare Payments for Catheters

About 14.3%, or $35.1 million, of the $303.3 million in Medicare payments for urinary catheters between July 2021 through June 2022 may have been improper due to documentation errors and medical necessity issues, according to a Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) report posted February 6.
