Washington Health Care Provider to Pay $250,000 Settlement over Ransomware Data Breach

Cascade Eye and Skin Centers, P.C., a privately owned health care provider in Washington state, will pay $250,000 to resolve potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in connection with a ransomware attack, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced September 26.
