Pennsylvania Hospital Pays $35K to Resolve Alleged HIPAA Violation Involving PHI Disclosure

A Pennsylvania hospital will pay $35,581 for allegedly improperly disclosing a female patient’s protected health information (PHI), including information related to reproductive health care, to her prospective employer in violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced November 26.
