Sixth Circuit Says ACA “Shared Responsibility Payment” Gets Priority in Bankruptcy

Joining the Third and Fourth Circuits, the Sixth Circuit held July 31 that the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA’s) “shared responsibility payment” is a tax that has priority in bankruptcy proceedings over other debts.
