Providence Medical Institute in Southern California must pay a $240,000 civil monetary penalty for potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in connection with a ransomware attack data breach, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced October 3.
