Interim Final Rule Nixes Low Wage Index Policy for FY 2025, Hospitals Sue for Lost Reimbursement

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is removing a policy included in the fiscal year (FY) 2025 inpatient hospital prospective payment system (IPPS) final rule that boosted the amount hospitals in certain low-wage geographic areas received in Medicare reimbursements while reducing reimbursement for other hospitals.
