U.S. Court in Illinois Allows Class Action Against Health System over Alleged Online Tracking Disclosures, But Trims Claims

Rush University System for Health must face breach of contract claims and allegations that it violated Illinois Eavesdropping Act in a putative class action alleging it unlawfully disclosed patients’ sensitive health information without their consent to Facebook, Google, and Bidtellect for advertising purposes through online tracking technology embedded on its website and its patient portal, a federal district court in Illinois held recently.
