OIG Issues Another Favorable Opinion for Medigap Plan Using Preferred Hospital Networks

The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) in an advisory opinion posted February 26 again ruled out sanctions in connection with a proposed arrangement to incentivize Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance (Medigap) Plan policyholders to seek inpatient care from a hospital within the preferred hospital organization’s (PHO’s) network.
