Health System to Pay $950,000 Settlement over Ransomware Data Breach

Heritage Valley Health System, which provides care in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, will pay $950,000 to resolve potential violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in connection with a ransomware attack, the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced July 1.
