Colon Cancer Screening Maker May Provide Patient Gift Cards to Promote Return of Tests

A manufacturer may provide a prepaid gift card of up to $75 to certain individuals, including federal health care program beneficiaries, to encourage them to return the sample collection kit from a colorectal cancer screening test without triggering sanctions, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) said in an advisory opinion posted March 29.
