U.S. Court in Wisconsin Rejects ERISA Action over Residential Treatment Coverage Denials

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin held February 10 that UMR, Inc., the claims administrator for numerous employer-sponsored health care plans nationwide, did not violate the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) by denying requests for residential treatment for mental health and substance abuse disorders based on allegedly overly restrictive level-of-care guidelines.
